Tickets are now on sale for the opening gala at the Granville Theatre in Ramsgate.

Westwood One Ltd, which also operates Under 1 Roof Thanet in Pysons Road and Under 1 Roof Canterbury, completed the purchase of the site from Thanet council last October.

The company, run by Ramsgate sisters Zahra and Parisa Tarjomani and Pyramid Martial Arts & Just Kids Parties owner Matt Milchard, has since been working on renovations to bring the site back into use as a theatre and cinema with sea view and cocktail bars, restaurant and community arts space.

The opening night, originally planned for May 13 but now moved to May 27, will include performances, speeches and a champagne reception as well as giving people a chance to look around the renovated venue and meet the team.

There will be one auditorium with a 600 seat capacity and the creation of around 20 jobs.

A packed programme of shows has already been announced and includes  Margate Operatic Society with The Addams Family the Musical, Michael Starring Ben direct from the London Palladium, Stranger Sings, Motown, burlesque and more.

The gala night is on May 27 from 7.30pm.

Tickets are from £17.60 plus £2.50 transaction fee and available at https://www.atgtickets.com/…/granvil…/granville-theatre/

  1. This is so depressing.. amateur dramatic companies, panto level theatre.. This family of new owners have very dubious it could have been a cinema at least.. the kent film foundation version would have elevated the area culturally.. seeing what’s on, might as well be on the end of a pier

  2. Yes, what a bargain! My last live screening at the Vue was £20, and my last trip to the Marlowe was £45, just for the seat. Looking forward to community fun, traditional (old fashioned?) seaside entertainment and, hopefully, something a bit special, sometimes. All good wishes to all those involved

  3. Only marketed at people who wear bobble hats all year round (rolled above there ears), baggy trousers that are too short, ankle boots, with a loose knit woollen jumper with a couple of holes in. Small dog on a rope is optional.

Oh and you have to act like you care but deep down you despise anyone with little money and are self entitled along with your kids (if you have them)
