St Laurence-in-Thanet CE Junior Academy loves nothing more than books – especially free books!
So, it was a wonderful Christmas present for the school when not one, but two deliveries of free books turned up.
A successful Usborne book fair earned the school several hundred pounds of non-fiction books, which will be winging their way to the school library.
The second batch of free books was thanks to the generosity of the people of Thanet who had donated to The Margate Bookshop’s campaign to raise money for books for schools. As a result, St Laurence received an amazing £500 of free books courtesy of Francesca Wilkins from The Margate Bookshop.
The school’s English lead, Dr Goldsmith, said: “Being able to choose over £1000 of free books for our school library was brilliant. We were so excited to receive all the books.
“A big thank you to all those who donated towards the fundraiser at Margate Bookshop – the range of books that we received was fantastic.”
