Margate businesswoman scoops ‘Mrs Diamond’ pageant title

Charlotte will represent the UK in her category at the international heats in Las Vegas

A Margate businesswoman will be representing Margate and the UK after scooping the Mrs Diamond pageant title.

Charlotte Silver competed in the category against women from around the UK and, despite being the youngest contender at 24, took the title. Mrs Diamond is a category in the Miss Diamond pageant.

The entrepreneur well known in Thanet as the principal of Silver Slipper Performing Arts School and the owner of Silvers Margate, She has also recently opened business Charlotte’s Cafe.

Charlotte said: “I entered the competition as a bit of fun and was not expecting to have any success at all but now I have won I’m planning to use the platform to raise much needed money for the charity Coppafeel.

“The charity raises awareness for breast cancer and supports all women in checking themselves correctly to spot early signs of cancer.

“I am also fundraising for the Samaritans, which in the current climate is busier than ever supporting those with mental health and suicidal behaviours.

“It is a real honour to be crowned as Mrs Diamond. To be able to represent my home town in a national competition was such a privilege and now to be able to represent my country in an international pageant is a dream come true.

“But the title also brings with it responsibility of being a role model to young women and also raising money for the charities and good causes.

I would like to thank all my friends and family who have supported me and of course my sponsors La Belleza boutique as without them the crowning would not be possible.”

Charlotte says she is passionate about equality, diversity and inclusivity and hosts Silver Social evenings at Silvers Margate for people with disabilities and complex needs. Each month people come together to celebrate a themed evening which Charlotte hosts.

Charlotte’s passion for pageants started many years ago and was inspired by another strong independent woman who has delivered similar work in the past and, closer to home, her grandad who told her to always believe in herself and never give up.

Charlotte will now represent the UK in her category at the international competition in Las Vegas next July.
