Residents in a Ramsgate street had their vehicles smashed into by another driver early this morning (October 15).

Police were called at 5am after a driver crashed into and damaged several vehicles in St Luke’s Avenue.

A man from Margate was later arrested for suspicion driving while unfit through drink and drugs.

A Kent Police spokesperson said: “Kent Police was called at 5.04am to reports that a car had collided with stationary vehicles on St Luke’s Avenue, Ramsgate.

“Officers attended the scene and a 31-year-old man from Margate was later arrested on suspicion of drink driving and driving while unfit through drugs.

“Enquiries are ongoing.”

One resident said it is the second time cars have been hit in the same stretch of road, tweeting: “The second time in 7 months the same householders have suffered from poor traffic management. St Lukes Ave, Ramsgate, needs much more robust speed restrictions or closing to traffic.

“The same happened with a drunk/drugged driver at Easter.”
