Man arrested following armed police and dog unit attendance at incident in Ramsgate

The road was shut while police dealt with the incident

A 51-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of possession of a bladed article following an incident in Ramsgate attended by armed police and dog units today (October 7).

Kent Police was called to Clements Road, shortly before 11am following a report that a man in possession of a bladed weapon was behaving erratically in a property. The police helicopter was also called in and scoured the area.

Officers surrounded a residential block and both motorists and pedestrians were not able to enter or leave the road.

A Kent Police spokesperson said: “Officers attended the scene and a 51-year-old man was later arrested on suspicion of possession of a bladed article. No injuries were reported.

“Officers would like to thank local residents for their cooperation during the response to the incident.”
