Officers investigating the death of Julia James have arrested a man in connection with her murder.

A man, a British national in his 20s from the Canterbury area, was arrested at 9.30pm yesterday (May 7), and remains in custody.

Julia, 53, who was a serving Police Community Support Officer for Kent Police, was found deceased next to Akholt Wood in Snowdown at around 4pm on Tuesday 27 April. She had been working from home that day before taking her dog, Toby, for a walk in the Aylesham Road area. A post-mortem revealed Julia died from significant head injuries.

Assistant Chief Constable Tom Richards from Kent Police said: ‘We continue to urge anyone with information, no matter how small or insignificant it may seem, to contact us. If you were in the Snowdown area between 1pm and 4.30pm on Tuesday 27 April please contact us.

“This includes anyone local who may have seen something out of place at the time, or who came across someone who made them feel uneasy – such as feeling compelled to cross the road or change the route they were walking.’

Anyone with information is urged to contact Kent Police on 0800 0514 526. Witnesses and anyone with any other information, CCTV or dashcam footage are also asked to submit details online via this link. You can also contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555111, or by using the online form.

      • Ditto Steve (though I personally haven’t been naked in public for at least 15 years, so yet again our non-favourite weirdy-beardy man’s research has been poor).

        • Doubt many will have been nude in public this year & last with the Covid & now our awful weather this year. Think WNBR & Bay To Breakers have both been cancelled the last couple of years.

  1. regarding this profiling , why not just face the facts , and tell it like it is , who are you trying to kid ,us or yourself ?

  2. Gary prude Peepings, there is nothing wrong with naturists they have nothing to hide. It’s those who like to pretend they are “I oh so good” who turn out to be the ones who are disturbed in some way. Like the person who killed this poor women.

  3. Back on topic – let’s hope they’ve finally got the scumbag, regardless of whether or not he/she/they/its is white/black/brown/yellow/purple.

I know that part of Kent quite well (walked there many times), and it must be terrifying for those usually safe and friendly and villages.

    • Yep, they have to build a case strong enough to convince the CPS-imagine that is some way off yet, unless they found him with some of her belongings. Other than that it will be forensics & search of his electronic devices, probably wherever he lives as well. Suspect like a lot of these similar cases in recent years that mental health issues might play a part.
