Transport Police called to distressed man on Newington bridge

Power to the live rail into Ramsgate railway station was switched off for around two hours last night (July 7) while emergency services attended a call to a distressed man.

British Transport Police were called at 8.45pm to the rail bridge on Newington Road following concerns for the welfare of a man.

Kent Police and South East Coast Ambulance Service also attended.

Officers attended, and the man was taken to a place of safety.
