Emergency crews called to rescue man stuck in mud below Margate’s harbour arm

Emergency services were called to the Stone Pier in Margate this morning (January 11) to rescue a man stuck in the mud below.

Police, ambulance, Margate coastguard and fire crews attended the scene at 6.37am.

A Kent Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “Kent Fire and Rescue Service was called to assist Kent Police at an incident near Margate harbour arm.

“Two fire engines were sent to the scene and crews used rescue equipment to rescue a casualty who had become stuck in mud, before being passed into the care of South East Coast Ambulance paramedics.”

A Kent Police spokesperson added: “Kent Police was called at 6.14am  to a report of a man stuck in the mud by Margate harbour arm.

“Officers attended, together with Kent Fire and Rescue Service and the South East Coast Ambulance service to assist in recovering the man. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment.”
