The festive spirit is in full flow in one Cliftonville street with a community group unveiling a special Christmas post box for children.
Members of Gordon Road Area Street Scheme (GRASS) gathered to celebrate the installation with mince pies and mulled wine.
Excited youngsters posted their precious letters knowing they would soon be winging their way to the North Pole.
Simon Bell, chairman, said: “We are bringing some extra festive cheer to Cliftonville this year. The magical Christmas post box also has a surprise spoken message from Santa when a letter is posted.”
The post box will be on display at the Gordon Road community garden until December, 20. And to ensure all year round enjoyment it will become a library in the New Year to provide the whole community access to a free book exchange.
Simon added: “All the volunteers would like to wish everyone a very merry Christmas and a happy New Year.”
Call me cynical but please empty it every day and keep an eye on it as there are bound to be some lowlife who would steal/ vandalise it yo ruin the Christmas surprises for the children.
