Man accused of assaulting police officer in Margate is remanded in custody

A man accused of assaulting a police officer in Margate has been charged with attempting to cause grievous bodily harm with intent.

Joshua Chapman is alleged to have assaulted a police constable after being stopped in Addington Street at around 4pm on Wednesday (October 23).

The officer suffered injuries to his face and was taken to hospital for treatment. He is expected to make a full recovery.

Chapman, 26 and of Durham Hill in Dover, appeared at Margate Magistrates’ Court today (October 25) where he was remanded in custody and will appear at Canterbury Crown Court on November, 25.
