Emergency services called to van blaze on Nethercourt estate

Emergency services were called to the Nethercourt estate in Ramsgate during the early hours of this morning (October 25) to a van ablaze.

Police are carrying out enquiries into the fire which took place at around 4am.

It is understood the householder spotted someone by the vehicle and says the fre was deliberately set.

One fire engine attended the scene.

A Kent Fire and Rescue spokesperson said: “Kent Fire and Rescue Service was called to a van well alight on Rydal Avenue in Ramsgate at around 3:58am. One fire engine went to the scene and crews wearing breathing apparatus used a hose reel jet to extinguish the blaze. No casualties were reported and the cause has not yet been established.”

Kent Police was also called. A spokesperson said: “Officers have made contact with the owner and are carrying out enquiries.”

An appeal for CCTV footage of the incident has been made on the Nethercourt Neighbourhood Watch facebook page.

Neighbours on the estate have made donations to replace work tools that had been inside the vehicle.
