Part of Margate High Street taped off following reported assault

Police have cordoned off an area of Margate High Street following reports of an assault and a man found with injuries.

Emergency services were called to the scene at the mid section of the High Street, between Boots and W H Smiths, this morning (June 4) at 9.09am.

A Kent Police spokesperson said: “Kent Police is attending Margate High Street following a report of a man found with injuries.

“Officers were called to the scene at 9.09am. The South East Coast Ambulance Service attended and took the man to a local hospital.

“A 26 year old man was arrested on suspicion of assault. He currently remains in police custody.

“The road was cordoned off while officers were making enquiries at the scene, but it is expected to re-open shortly.”

A South East Coast Ambulance Service spokesman added: “We were called shortly before 9am to reports of a person who had collapsed and was in need of medical attention. Ambulance crews attended the scene and a man was treated before being taken to QEQM Hospital for further treatment.”
