As Ramsgate’s wartime tunnels head towards their 80th birthday they should now be easier to find, thanks to a new sign in the style of the old ‘Tunnel Railway’ lettering high up on the concrete façade.
Following the granting of planning permission for the replacement sign, one proclaiming ‘Ramsgate Tunnels’ in the same style and colour as the original has been fabricated locally and was erected by local contractor Ovendens yesterday (May 28).
The striking sign can easily be seen from the Royal Harbour and should leave visitors to the town in no doubt where the Tunnels can be found.
