Get ready for a ‘bigger and better’ RSPCA family fun day and dog show

RSPCA 2018 family fun day and dog show

This year’s RSPCA Thanet family fun day and dog show will be even bigger and better than previous years, say organisers.

The event, back for its third year, will take place at St George’s secondary school in Westwood Road, Broadstairs, on August 19.

The fun dog show will include classes such as cutest puppy, waggiest tail, best golden oldie, best rescue, prettiest bitch and most handsome dog. Cost to enter the competition is £2 entry per class. Scurry and agility are also £2.

There will be a tin of Lily’s Kitchen dog food given to every entry, bigger prizes for the winners, and rosettes for first, second and third.

Other pooch fun will include a have a go agility course, run by ENVE Canine Services, and a timed scurry, with fastest time winning a prize.

The event will have more than 30 craft and animal related stalls, food, ice cream/snow cones, coffee and donuts and live music and mocktails. There will be a storyteller, arts and crafts, sensory play and a fire engine as well as a rock painting stand where people can paint a rock and join the ever increasingly popular ‘Thanet Rock Hunters’.

There will also be princess character meet and greets, face painting and funfair. All donations on the day will go to the local Isle of Thanet RSPCA, which is a self -funded service.

The event runs from 11am to 5pm. Registration for dog classes starts at 11am with the first class -dog that looks most like its owner – taking place at 11.45am.

Entry to the fun day event is £2 adults, £1 children, toddlers and younger free.
