Kent Police

Police are at the scene of a reported assault outside Charles Dickens school in Broadstairs.

Reports that a weapon was used have not been substantiated by police who say “there was no confirmed sighting of a knife.”

A Kent Police spokesman said: “Kent Police was called at 2.56pm  to a report of an assault outside a school in Broadstairs Road, Broadstairs.

“Officers are currently at the scene. No injuries have been reported and enquiries into the circumstances are ongoing.”

An email sent to parents from school executive head Ms Cardus says: “The police attended this incident and no-one was hurt. This all happened before the end of the school day and no Charles Dickens students were involved.”

Ms Cardus also asked parents to ensure their youngsters go straight home from school and do not wait around ‘in large groups.’
