Hawkwind to play Dreamland gig

Hawkwind are coming to Dreamland

Rock band Hawkwind will be bringing their own special brand of psychedelic, space chaos to Hall By The Sea at Dreamland this Summer.

The five-piece, originally formed in 1969, will stage the show ahead of their more formal orchestral shows later in the year and a new album release in September.

Fans can expect a selection of classics from the band’s 50 year career

Notable musicians to have performed in the band include Lemmy, Ginger Baker and Huw Lloyd-Langton, but the band are most closely associated with their founder -singer, songwriter and guitarist Dave Brock, who is the only remaining original member

They are best known for the song Silver Machine, which became a number three UK hit single in 1972.

Atom Promotions present the gig which will also include special guests.

It takes place on July 20 from 8pm to 11pm.

The event is those aged 14 and over. Under 16s must be accompanied by an adult.

Did you know: Former Hawkwind members Robert Calvert, Nik Turner and Michael Davies lived in Margate and all worked at Dreamland. The seed for Hawkwind was born from conversations about what their band would be like. They lived at what is now The Reading Rooms.

Robert Calvert was also a member of band The Third Eye, alongside David Bowie (then Davy Jones), prior to his time with Hawkwind.
