Organisers of The International Comic Expo (ICE) have praised the warm welcome they received at the first Margate Comic Art Festival at the Winter Gardens last weekend.

The event featured artists and writers behind well known and popular comics as well as movie actors from Star Wars, Harry Potter, Captain America and Thor: The Dark World and a host of colourful cosplayers.

The Winter Gardens venue played host to a plethora of stallholders selling comics and other merchandise plus a full two day schedule of inspiring and entertaining talks, workshops and exclusive panels and interviews featuring the guest writers and artists.

Shane Chebsey, from ICE, said: “We at ICE could not be happier with the warm reception we received from the people of Margate when we put on the first ever Margate Comic Art Festival last weekend.

“It was music to our ears as we spoke to fans attending to hear they had a fantastic time at the festival.”

Comic book writer and novelist Dan Abnett was one of the guests at the event. He said: “I can’t tell you how much I enjoyed the Margate comic festival. A terrific roster of guests in a wonderful venue by the sea.

“It was one of the best and friendliest shows I’ve been to in a long time!”
