Bluebirds’ appeal for pitch to play vital double-header game

Bluebirds vs Maidstone in March

Margate Ladies FC have two vital matches this Sunday (April 15) – but no pitch to play on.

The Bluebirds are due to play a double header against Faversham, consisting of two games of 30 minutes each, but the team’s usual St Luke’s venue is already booked for a cup final.

The team have been offered the use of Margate FC’s Hartsdown ground but say the cost of £144 plus £30 referee fee is way above their usual budget of £65.

The Bluebirds were re-established in 2014. Since then the team have been promoted back to back in the 2015-16 and 2016-17 season.

They are currently in Division One of the East of the South East Counties Women’s League and are managed by Jim Cornish.

Bluebirds home games are usually played at St Luke’s Ground in Ramsgate with 2pm kick-offs on Sundays.
