Nearly all of the fence has been stolen from a play park in Ramsgate.
It is thought the fence was swiped from the Warre Rec park sometime last night.
Thanet council has confirmed the theft and is due to issue a statement this afternoon.
All that remains of the fence are the posts and a few panels.
Ramsgate dad David Copeland photographed the sorry looking park this morning.
He said: “It’s not safe any more for the little ones. It’s such a shame and it’s not fair on the rest of the community.”
The park was also targeted last year when vandals destroyed the fencing in July, just two months after it had been installed.
The council had to fork out £255 in materials and staff time to repair the damage.
Kent Police has been contacted for further details about the theft.
It would appear that the same thing has been happening repeatedly at Jackey Bakers Recreation Ground. Welded steel fencing and CCTV cameras situated on the upper deck of Sainsbury’s and the Sainsbury’s petrol statiob may make a difference!
I only recently managed to get that fence erected! What a great shame. Cllr Karen Constantine.
Terrible, definitely needs to be some CCTV and perhaps a metal fence that is harder to remove?
Really annoying and frustrating that thieves can stoop so low. No thoughts at all for the kids!
