Newington pupils ‘Taste the World’ with French cuisine

Pupils will tuck into foods from around the world

C’est bon – that’s the verdict from young diners following a special French menu for their lunchtime meal at Newington Community Primary School in Ramsgate.

The resounding ‘oui’ from pupils and staff was given to the nutritious food prepared and served by kitchen team who created a range of French-inspired delights. These included the country’s traditional fare like chicken chasseur and boeuf bourguignon.

It marked the start of Newington’s Taste the World 2018 initiative where traditional food from a different country will be served each school term.

Head teacher Cliff Stokes said: “It is important to literally give our children a taste of cuisine and culture from other countries.

“We encourage pupils to have broad horizons and explore the history and heritage of people from around the globe and the themed lunches fit in perfectly with this initiative…and they are very tasty too!”
