Inner Wheel Club of Margate: New members invited

President Barbara Copper with Iain and Lyn Callender from Operation Sunshine

At our October meeting the new Inner Wheel year President Barbara Copper welcomed those attending and speakers Iain and Lyn Callender guest speakers from Operation Sunshine.

They gave an interesting presentation about Operation Sunshine which was formed in 1980 and provides children in Zambia with Christmas shoe boxes containing presents which they would not normally receive. A lot of the children get as much pleasure from the Christmas wrappings as they do the contents! Skill centres are provided by the charity to teach children life skills such as carpentry and plumbing. Also a school has been built for the younger children this evolved from a derelict building and is now fully operational.

Forthcoming events will include afternoon tea at President Barbara’s house. Pricing for goods for the International Rally at Joy Adam’s house. There will be  a craft afternoon at Sylvia Pulling’s house at the beginning of November, later in November there will be a Bubble and Squeak evening at Joy Adams house. On the November 22, the members will be going for a shopping trip and lunch to De Bradlei Wharf.

December is already looking busy with carols and presents at our Christmas meeting on December 12 and “drinks and nibbles” at our President’s house on December 17.

The Inner Wheel Club of Margate is actively encouraging new members. Why not come along to our next dinner meeting at Northdown House on Tuesday, November 14? We welcome applications for membership. The club is a great opportunity to make new friends and enjoy an interesting social calendar whilst raising money for charity. This year’s nominated charities are the Strode Park Foundation and Operation Sunshine.
