Harvest Festival gift from Upton Junior School

Upton pupils with the harvest haul

Commitment and kindness from pupils, families and staff at Upton Junior School in Broadstairs are helping support children in Africa and local people in need.

As part of its annual Harvest Festival celebration the school community has again offered support to the Crossroads secondary school project in the Soroti district of Uganda, one of the country’s poorest areas.

Generous donations from Upton will go towards the Broadstairs Queen’s Road Baptist Church link with the international Global Challenge that helps educate children (many of whom are orphaned), alleviates poverty and suffering, and encourages self-sufficiency.

And the GAP community project food bank for those in need closer to home has been boosted by a hearty donation of tins and packets of food.

Rhodri Walters, a minister at Queen’s Baptist Church, was a special guest at Upton’s Harvest Festival assembly where he thanked the school for its generosity, commitment and kindness.
