Police appeal after man dies in Ramsgate crash

A young man died in a road incident in Ramsgate last night (October 6).

Police, ambulance and the air ambulance were called following a collision between a motorbike and a car in Stirling Way at 8.25pm.

The incident was at the junction with Conyngham Close. A 24-year-old man from Ramsgate died at the scene.

An investigation into the circumstances of the collision is ongoing and officers from Kent Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit are appealing for witnesses, who have yet to speak to police, to contact them.

Anyone who may have also seen a black Ford Mondeo or a black and white Yamaha motorcycle in the moments leading up to the collision, is asked to contact the witness appeal line on 01622 798538 quoting reference  DK/SM/222/17or email [email protected]

A 65-year-old woman from Ramsgate was arrested in connection with the collision and later released pending further investigation.

The man has been named as former Hereson student Brett Appleyard. Friends have this morning been laying flowers in Stirling Way in memory of the mechanic and dad-to-be and paying tribute on social media.
