
Armed police have apprehended a man in Newington.
Officers were seen in Stirling Way, close to the Royal Harbour Academy, detaining a man at gunpoint.
Resident Leeroy Nicholson witnessed the scene at around 11.40am today (September 10).
He said: “I was just cycling to work and saw the man on his knees in handcuffs with a gun being aimed at him by police.”
Kent Police attended the scene following a report of a man with a gun in the area.
A police spokesman said: “Kent Police was called at 11.02am to a report of a man being seen with a firearm in Stirling Way, Ramsgate.
“Officers attended the area where a 21-year-old man from Margate was arrested on suspicion of unlawful possession of an imitation firearm.
“Enquiries into the circumstances surrounding the incident are on-going.”
