Crews filming a movie in Ramsgate have requested a stop and go order for traffic in Harbour Parade on Monday (July 31).

Turnlet Films are shooting scenes for an adaptation of author Nick Hornby’s 2009 novel Juliet Naked.

Some eight film production vehicles from AFD  have set up base in the Marina Road car park and are expected to be on the isle for the next week.

The production stars Rose Byrne, Ethan Hawke and Chris O’Dowd as well as Azhy Robertson (Law & Order: Special Victims Unit), Lily Brazier (People Just Do Nothing), Ayoola Smart (Vera) and stand-up comedian Jimmy O. Yang.

In a letter to some residents location manager Jon Roper says the crew will be shooting scenes in Harbour Parade and Pier Yard car park between 11am and 5pm.

He says: “To facilitate filming on the day and ensure our work does not cause any risk to drivers and pedestrians we have requested the use of temporary ‘stop and go’ traffic control measures on Harbour Parade. We will not be closing the road or preventing access but would ask for vehicles and pedestrians to wait for short periods while filming before being allowed to continue on their way.”

The production company has also requested the suspension of on-street parking bays on both sides of Harbour Parade and at the Pier Yard car park for the day.

Juliet Naked tells the story of Annie (played by Rose Byrne), the long-suffering girlfriend of Duncan (Chris O’Dowd), and her unlikely transatlantic romance with once revered, now faded, singer-songwriter, Tucker Crowe (Ethan Hawke), who also happens to be the subject of Duncan’s musical obsession.

The release date for the film has not yet been announced.
