Plans for a housing and retail estate at Westwood will go on display at two events this week.
Investment company Greenacre Capital proposes building homes from the Toby Carvery between Haine Road to the East, across to Manston Court Road to the West, taking open fields extending from the Orbit properties on the Star Lane Link Road, and South to Valley Road on the borders of Bradgate Caravan Park.
In a public consultation notice the company says: “This will inform our final proposals ahead of submitting an outline planning application to Thanet District Council.”

Greenacre (Thanet) Ltd, which comes under the parent company, says it is proposing new homes, including affordable homes, 20 acres of public open space, retirement homes, a primary school and a mix of commercial and retail properties including doctors, dentists and vets.

The proposal is named Westwood Village.
Consultation events will take place on July 14 and 15.
Members of the Greenacre team will be present to answer questions.

Why are you destroying our countryside and fields? You should only be building on brownfield sites. Look at any town and see so many empty properties that could be converted into homes again. Leave our fields alone to grow our food as once lost we cannot get them back. This is nothing but greed on behalf of developers.
If this goes ahead are they gonna be affordable for local residents to buy or rent or are we gonna get side stepped again ??
The area around Westwood cannot take any more traffic. Leave the fields alone, we don’t need or want any more housing or shops.
I think it will be awful, manston court road is a lovely quiet road but it won’t be if this development goes ahead.
Developers should be renovating the older run down properties in Margate and Ramsgate which would help the revival of the towns. Westwood village means losing even more of what little green space there is in Thanet and it will probably get worse if it links up with proposed housing developments at Manston.
