Ramsgate  7                                 Lancing 2

Tijan Jadama (3,14)                   Lucas Franzen-Jones (11 pen)

Joe Taylor (6,52, 74 pen)           Ben Pope (28)

 Lee Martin (65)

Joe Turner (90+4)

A strange non-league day, weatherwise at least, sun, rain, hailstones and bitterly cold at the WW Martin Community stadium. For this second versus fourth in the Isthmian Southeast encounter.

The previous away meeting was won by Lancing coming from behind to win 4 – 2.

Ramsgate start brightly immediately attacking, forcing Lancing on the back foot. Just two minutes in and Tijan Jadama is put through, he shoots but Louis Rogers in the Lancing goal stays strong punching the ball away. Jadama collects the ball plays to Joe Taylor who shoots just wide.

Third minute, a perfectly weighted pass from Taylor for Jadama to run on to and slot home Rams opener.

Ramsgate build again, sixth minute Jack Paxman on the overlap with Jordan Green, he crosses from the right as Taylor rushes through un-marked and with a diving header beats Rogers for Rams second. All one-way traffic at the start, with Jadama in a much higher role than usual.

Lancing finally feel their feet after the fast-paced Rams start, they break quickly getting the ball forward, a quick footed Lucas Franzen-Jones in the area outwitting Jack Parter to a rash challenge resulting in a penalty kick.  Franzen-Jones steps up and slots home past Tom Hadler who had no chance.

Fourteenth, Rams forward again has Taylor plays a wonderful pass for Jadama to run onto, Rogers coming out to meet him but Jadama just coolly lifts the ball over Rogers for Ramsgate’s third. With not even a quarter of an hour played the fans have been treated to four goals. In a very open game neither side seem to want to defend.

Alfie Paxman cuts into the area coming in from the left wing, he goes into the penalty area and is fouled for a Rams penalty. Nineteenth minute, leading goal scorer and penalty taker Taylor steps up, he side-foots the ball wide of Rogers goal.

Lancing respond and attack down the right, a super cross in from Alex Laing finding Franzen-Jones all alone in the Rams area, his header going just over Hadler’s crossbar.

Twenty eighth, a misplaced pass in the Ramsgate midfield, Lancing pounce sending the ball down the Rams left, Ben Pope goes through cutting inside and fires home across Hadler and into the far corner of the goal to make it 3 – 2.

Rams have to build again as they are not comfortable with just the one goal advantage and Lancing do seem able to create chances.

Thirty second, Alfie Paxman has a freekick central position just outside the box, he fires in forcing an excellent save from Rogers, diving low to his right for a Rams corner, the ball hit towards the back post drops right at Green’s feet all to quick and the ball goes wide.

Forty fifth, Jadama wins a tackle in the midfield, passes out to Green, he takes it down the line winning another Rams corner. The ball fired in and headed home by Rams centre back Alex Brevo only to ruled out for offside.

One last injury time chance as Rams have a freekick, headed away as far as Jack Paxman, he crosses for Alfie to try a diving header at the back post going just wide.

Such an open half of football. As the teams go in at half time, both managers will be wanting a word with their defensive players.

Fifty second, Ramsgate win the ball deep in the Lancing half, Parter plays the ball through for Taylor, he holds off the defender using his body and places the ball past Rogers. An excellently worked goal and extends Rams lead to 4 – 2.

Lancing still look good going forward as they chase the game, a great passing move sees substitute Charlie Pitcher shoot with some power forcing Hadler to parry the ball away.

Approaching the hour mark Rams are really piling on the pressure, efforts coming in from Alfie Paxman and Green, blocked for corners as Rams have numerous back to back corners as Lancing try to keep them out.

A wonderful Ramsgate move ball played through to Taylor back heeled on and played across for Lee Martin, he shoots instantly striking across Rogers and into the back corner of the net for Rams Fifth.

Seventy first, Rams sub as Jadama is replaced by Medy Elito.

Seventy fourth, Rams sub as Green is replaced by Benni Bioletti.

Rams starting to run riot as the attacking line look for more goals. Seventy fourth, Rams awarded a second penalty as Taylor is brought down from behind. Taylor himself steps up, no thought of the earlier miss, he completes his hat-trick smashing home the penalty, Ramsgate’s sixth.

Rams comfortably in the lead relax a little too much giving space for Charlie Bennett, he’s unlucky as his shot goes just wide, with Hadler beaten.

Rams second sub as Lee Martin is replaced by Joe Turner in the eighty third minute.

Rams not happy with just the six goals continue to go forward, a quick ball from the back from Parter onto Alfie Paxman, he shoots, a fingertip save by Rogers. Alfie then has a freekick just outside the area, his strike fractions over the Lancing crossbar.

Rams continue attacking, Elito has a brilliant shot fantastically saved by Rogers in added time.

Ninety plus six, rounding off a perfect Ramsgate performance, a short corner to Joe Turner, he looks up assesses the situation and unleashes a thunderbolt past Rogers to end the game and finish off Rams magnificent seven.
