Two men have been charged in connection with distraction burglaries in Broadstairs and Chatham where they claimed to be police officers.
Kent Police received four reports that two men had targeted four homes on November 23, posing as officers so they could get into the homes.
The incidents were reported to have happened between 12pm and 2.30pm in Carlton Avenue, Broadstairs Road and Northdown Hill, all Broadstairs, and Broadlands Road in Chatham.
In two of the incidents cash was stolen. Commemorative coins were also reported to be stolen.
On the same day officers arrested and subsequently charged Paul Ellis, 43, from The Oaks, Hersden, and John O’Brien, 37 and from Briar Road, Stockton on Tees, Cleveland, with two counts of burglary and theft and two counts of attempted burglary with intent to steal.
Both men appeared before Mid Kent Magistrates’ Court on Saturday (November 25) and Mr Ellis was remanded. Mr O’Brien was bailed with conditions and both men will appear at court on a date yet to be confirmed.
