Police have named a man found dead in Margate – and made an arrest

A man who was found dead in Margate on February 1 has been named as 44-year-old Kevin Sampson from Minster.

Kent Police officers were called  at around 10pm officers to Victoria Road where a man was found laying on the pavement. Paramedics from the South East Coast Ambulance Service pronounced him dead at the scene after attempts at CPR failed.

Police have now named Mr Sampson as enquiries continue into the circumstances of his death.

A 46-year-old man from Margate has been arrested in connection with the incident. He has been arrested on suspicion of assault and theft and currently remains in police custody.

Detectives would like to know where Mr Sampson was between midday and 9.45pm on the day he died. They are urging witnesses, or anyone who knew him and has information on his movements that day, to come forward.
