A man who was found dead in Margate on February 1 has been named as 44-year-old Kevin Sampson from Minster.
Kent Police officers were called at around 10pm officers to Victoria Road where a man was found laying on the pavement. Paramedics from the South East Coast Ambulance Service pronounced him dead at the scene after attempts at CPR failed.
Police have now named Mr Sampson as enquiries continue into the circumstances of his death.
A 46-year-old man from Margate has been arrested in connection with the incident. He has been arrested on suspicion of assault and theft and currently remains in police custody.
Detectives would like to know where Mr Sampson was between midday and 9.45pm on the day he died. They are urging witnesses, or anyone who knew him and has information on his movements that day, to come forward.
Anyone with information that could assist the investigation should call 01843 222289 quoting reference 01-1257 or Kent Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
My condolences to Kevin Sampson’s family. Surely though, if somebody has been arrested in connection with his death after committing an assault then shouldn’t manslaughter or murder be the charge. I would have thought so.
It has been reported on Meridian News that it was Victoria Road Ramsgate. I came onto your website Kathy to confirm that Meridian had the wrong town. Are you able to correct this with them ? Otherwise those other irresponsible papers will add it to Ramsgate’s Crime figures. Do you know what the suspect is in custody for, is it a major crime against Mr Sampson?
It is Margate, the man has been arrested on suspicion of assault and theft at the moment
