The DeLorean car is coming to Westwood Cross

A piece of Hollywood is coming to Westwood Cross this weekend in the shape of the famous Back to the Future DeLorean car.

The iconic car has been transported to the shopping centre from Universal Studios, Hollywood and is signed by movie stars Michal J Fox and Christopher Lloyd.

The temporary addition is expected to attract scores of fans and will provide the perfect family photo opportunity as Westwood Cross Shopping Centre is transformed with ‘Back to the Future’ props and 1950’s inspired live music.

The classic car will be on display throughout the weekend.

Francesca Donovan, centre manager at Westwood Cross, said: “We are looking forward to welcoming families this weekend to celebrate Father’s Day in style. Together with our wide selection of restaurants and retailers, we hope the dads of Thanet will enjoy this special ‘Back to the Future’ treat!”

Alongside the ‘Back to the Future’ takeover, visitors will be able to take part in a competition to win £100 shopping voucher and take in the classic sounds of Hotsy Totsy – who will be entertaining the crowds with 1950’s-style music on Saturday 17th June from 12pm.

The local Hornby Visitors Centre will  also be getting into the spirit, providing a Scalextric Bash and Crash track free to all guests.

This never happened. It was just the car and cardboard cutout of the clock tower behind it. 5 minutes looking at the car and taking some photos, and you’re done.
