Flowers laid by devastated friends following death of Ramsgate lad Brett Appleyard

Flowers have been laid by devastated friends following the death of former Hereson lad Brett Appleyard last night (October 6).

The 24-year-old mechanic sadly died after a collision between his motorbike and a motorist in Stirling Way at 8.25pm.

Officers and ambulance crews attended the incident, which was at the junction with Conyngham Close, but despite the efforts of all involved Brett died at the scene.

Tributes have been paid to the “funny and kind” Ramsgate dad-to-be as shocked friends have taken to social media.

An investigation into the circumstances of the collision is ongoing and officers from Kent Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit are appealing for witnesses, who have yet to speak to police, to contact them.

A 65-year-old woman from Ramsgate was arrested in connection with the collision and later released pending further investigation.

  1. Such a shame and still so young.
    There have been a number of motorcycle accidents resulting in fatalities in Thanet over the past year or two. Please watch out for them when you are crossing the road or driving your vehicle and take care.
