A magical whispering forest at George VI Park will be one of the highlights at a new festival in Ramsgate this Summer.

The new Festival of Sound will also include a collection of sound installations  in the town multi storey car park, a trip back in time on the Cervia Steam Ship and some wartime nostalgia with a twist in the Ramsgate Tunnels.

The East Cliff bandstand will be brought to life with an afternoon programme of Things with Words, Music and Dance and there will be live music stages, family activities, late night cabaret and street performance.”

The festival, which will run from July 26-29, is being produced  by Ramsgate Arts ( Ramsgate Festival) in partnership with Ramsgate Week and  Article 10, the team that created the popular Littoral Light Festival over the past two years. They will be working with a host of artists, musicians, performers and community groups  in a variety of venues across the town.

There will also be a series of open studios,  talks and workshops during Ramsgate Week in the build up to the festival, including Ramsgate Reflections and an artist symposium with  guest speakers to be announced.

Festival producer Andrew  Gibson said: “We are excited about doing something new for the Ramsgate Festival this year and already there is huge interest from artists and venues alike.”

Further announcements will be made in the next few weeks including an official call out for artist participation and volunteers.
