Laleham Gap pupils stage their own ‘royal wedding’ and party

The royal wedding at Laleham Gap

Laleham Gap school in Ramsgate laid on the ‘full works’ on Friday with a full, and as near as they could get, exact copy of the Royal Wedding one day early.

A full wedding procession was met by a fully dressed up – in their best wedding regalia or red white and blue – whole school assembly. Many notable Royals could be seen in crowd.

With a Year 9 and year 10 taking on the role as Harry and Megan it was left to ‘Archbishop- Mr Clements-Welby’ – to lead them through the vows to rapturous applause and the National Anthem.

Bubbles, bunting, flags and home-made crowns were also in abundance when Laleham Gap primary pupils had a  traditional party to celebrate the wedding.

Assistant head teacher Mrs Scobie said “It was such fun and I’m so proud of the pupils here. As well as the laughter I would say these type of activities do help the children understand British values and it is why our staff are happy to go the extra mile to make them happen.”

Deputy head teacher Katie Reeves added: “It has been such a lovely day. The home made scones, with jam and cream obviously helped! But also the effort from staff, bringing in extra party food and making decorations made it that bit more special.”
