Step through the Looking Glass with theatre company Looping the Loop as they bring a free immersive experience to Ramsgate town centre.
Looping the Loop has a long history of surprising the public, with the Dog Agility Team and their plastic bottle dogs, a theatre caravan at Westwood Cross and workshops around the Isle.
Now the company is bringing the magic of Alice in Wonderland to Ramsgate town centre on Saturday 9 May, between 11am to 2pm.
Theatre Director Ellie Jones said: “Whether you’re a curious traveller or a seasoned resident of Wonderland, there is a seat at the table for you. And it’s all free of charge. This is a living, breathing celebration of the absurd, open to explorers of all ages. The tea is brewing, and the March Hare is getting restless.”
The event is packed with activities designed to spark the imagination and draw visitors into the wonderful world of the Lewis Carroll story. There will be tea …. of a sort, short performances involving the key characters in the Alice in Wonderland story, a hat-making workshop led by hatmaker Christine Pettet, and the Quest for Red Roses. The Queen of Heart’s gardeners have made a terrible mistake, so the crew need visitors to pop into surrounding shops to change the white roses they have grown for red ones, before the (slightly) terrifying Queen arrives back at the party.
Looping the Loop is supported in the event by Ramsgate Town Council and the generosity of people who volunteer their help before and on the day itself.

Those doorstep performances of the ‘bottle dogs’ during Covid were magical for children.
