Seven fire engines attended a blaze at the Embassy truck stop on Ramsgate Road in Sandwich today (February 23).
Fire crews were called in at 3.37pm. A Detection, Identification & Monitoring vehicle is also at the scene.

Crews are advising people living or travelling on Ramsgate Road near Richborough to avoid the area and for people to close windows and doors.
The fire is at an industrial unit behind the Embassy Diner which opened its doors last November. Witnesses reported smoke coming into the venue.
Update 6.47pm: Crews are making good progress, now with four fire engines in attendance. Crews are wearing breathing apparatus and using foam and main jets to extinguish the fire.
People travelling or planning to travel nearby are still advised to avoid the area.
UPDATE 8.30pm: Firefighting operations have now finished at an industrial fire in Richborough, Ramsgate Road in Sandwich.
UPDATE February 24: The Roadhouse Diner will reopen this week after electricians have carried out checks.
The fire was in a unit behind the Diner and it is reported that there were no injuries. In a message on social media it says: “As a precaution the Roadhouse Diner will be closed today while electricians check everything over but we’re hopeful to be back open later this week.”
What a shame, they were working so hard to make it a success.

We followed one fire engine all the way from Herne Bay to Sevenscore roundabout so we figured it must be something big to need engines from OOA. Glad to hear it’s resolved without injuries
