Christmas Craft Fair

Ramsgate Christmas lights event

Some of the attractions have either been cancelled or moved to indoor locations due to predicted heavy rain and wind gusts on Sunday but light switch on will go ahead
Santa’s Grotto, live music, craft stalls, handmade fair, the light switch on and more
The fun-filled day features naughty elves, face painting, live entertainment, and handmade market stalls. Highlights include Miss Ramsgate and her court, children’s craft workshops, Santa’s Grotto, and an Elfish Trail for kids to explore. Please note the fair and elf trail are likely to be been altered to use indoor locations due to the weather.
Santa’s Grotto will run alongside a Christmas market at Sugar Rush. Children who complete the Elfish Trail can turn in their flyer to Santa to receive a special gift.
The Christmas Lights Switch on takes place at 4.30pm. There will be Light projections and live music from 5pm to 8pm at St George’s Church.
The Ramsgate Lumiere festival kicks off with the Christmas Lights switch-on and runs until New Year’s Eve with a grand Lantern Parade.
The festive programme is inspired by Ramsgate’s annual harbour display of lit up boats which takes place each December and will enhance the existing illuminations in the town with a series of installations, projections and events to bring extra sparkle and shine.
The festival begins with a short walk leading to St George’s Church for the “Let There Be Light” event, featuring both interior and exterior light projections, live music and mince pies.
The Royal Temple Yacht Club supports the lighting up of boats and businesses at the harbour and has received some funding from Ramsgate Town Council for lights.
Shops have also been invited to create lit up window displays. The events have received support from the Council, as well as the Great British Carnival CIC, JH events and the Arts Council England.
The festival includes Light Up Ramsgate, a free light trail of artworks installed in shops and businesses throughout the town centre from 24th November until 3rd January. There will be a range of artworks as part of the winter street gallery and there will be a map for people to grab in person or download online that takes them on a walking journey from the Harbour and around the town to end up at St Georges Church for the Christmas Trees festival.
Light Up Ramsgate will switch on at 3pm on Sunday 24th so people can explore the trail before the main Christmas Lights Switch On Event in the town centre at 4:30pm. The light trail will then be illuminated daily from 3pm – 10pm until the new year. There will be additional projections and installations in the town centre on December 12th for the late night shopping event,.
