Police search for driver who left scene after pedestrian hit by car in Newington Road

Police are searching for a motorist who left the scene after a pedestrian was hit by a car in Ramsgate today (June 19).

Police and paramedics attended the incident in Newington Road at 12.50pm but the driver had left the scene. The female pedestrian was taken to William Harvey Hospital.

A Kent Police spokesperson said: “Kent Police was called to a report of a collision involving a pedestrian and a car in Newington Road, Ramsgate at 12.50pm on Wednesday 19 June.

“Officers attended along with South East Coast Ambulance Service and the pedestrian was taken to a local hospital.

“The car involved was not at the scene when officers arrived and enquiries to locate the driver are underway.”

A South East Coast Ambulance service spokesperson said: “SECAmb were called shortly after 12:45pm today  to reports of a person being hit by a car in Newington Road, Ramsgate.

“Crews arrived and assessed and treated one person before taking them to the William Harvey Hospital for further medical treatment.”
