Vancouver, noise-punk four-piece PISS make their Margate debut at Where Else? tomorrow (Thursday 3 September), with support from Auckland post-punk outfit Ringlets. Doors open at 7pm.
The show marks the opening night of PISS’s international headline and festival tour — a run that will take them from Margate to Brighton Psych Fest, End of the Road, Iceland Airwaves, Pitchfork Paris, and a 12-date North American run supporting Dublin post-punk group Gilla Band.
Where Else? is the first stop on a tour.
PISS will release their debut album, you made me / skin on linen, on 30 October via Sub Pop Records worldwide and Paper Bag Records in Canada — on LP, CD, cassette and DSPs.
The record depicts a childhood shaped by structural, systemic and intimate violence, using art-making as a sustained metaphor for how we carry and are formed by experience. It is unflinching without being reductive, asking hard questions about the relationship between wound and self, and leaving the listener to find their own answers. The first single, “time loop at hot slit” — a frenetic noise-punk examination of girlhood in a culture of sexualisation — is out now, alongside an official video co-directed by frontperson Taylor Zantingh and Vivyen Sagsen.
PISS combine punk, poetry, sound collage, performance art and visual art, led by poet and teacher Taylor Zantingh alongside guitarist and filmmaker Tyler Paterson, bassist Gavin Moya and drummer Garreth Roberts.
Support comes from Ringlets, the Auckland post-punk quartet signed to the legendary Flying Nun Records. Formed in Tāmaki Makaurau in 2021, Ringlets — László Reynolds, Leith Towers, Arabella Poulsen and Arlo Grey — released their sophomore album The Lord Is My German Shepherd (Time For Walkies) in June 2025, produced at The Lab in Auckland and mixed by Isaac Keating at Abbey Road Studios.
Where Else? is an independent grassroots music venue and community hub, operating from Margate. Founded in 2018 and run under Night Harvest CIC, the venue programmes live music, club nights, comedy, film screenings, supper clubs and more, and is home to Margate Radio, broadcast from an on-site studio.
