Two of the founders of Mental Health United Thanet are due to reach the Viking Ship at Cliffsend today (August 31) after just over four days of a fundraising trek from Brighton.
Danny Harris and Carl Morgan set out from Brighton on Thursday to take on the 100-mile trek to raise awareness and funds for mental health support.
The duo, and fellow co-founder Luke Menzies, launched Mental Health United Thanet in 2024 to help people who have struggles with mental health or addiction. The club caters for men, women and children of all ages and abilities to join in for a friendly kick about and to have a healthy, non-judgemental outlet to talk and have fun.
Danny and Carl have been trekking around 30 miles each day, battling rainstorms, tough terrain, aching feet and plenty of blisters along the way.
They reached Dover yesterday and today will complete their final stretch to Ramsgate.
The duo set off from Deal Pier at 9am and aim to reach the Viking Ship at noon. All are invited to join them along their final push.
The lads have just broken through their £1000 target and the page is still open for donations.

Danny, Carl and Luke were recently recognised for their work within the community by being named Thanet Community Champions 2026.
Through their passion for football, they have built a huge following and proudly established Mental Health United Thanet as one of the area’s leading inclusive charities for sport.
Mental Health United Thanet football sessions take place at Margate Football Club every Friday 8pm-9pm.
