Ramsgate Community Cinema team are partnering with Bayside Cafe at Dumpton Gap for Summer Beach Screenings.
Bayside Cafe will be serving food from 8am to 7pm, drinks can be purchased up to 8pm
The screenings are run by the charity KENT FILM FOUNDATION with a superb 16sqm LED screen. Half of the cost of screen hire is paid through the partnership with the BFI, and the ticket prices (suggested donation of £5 per person per screening) will cover the shortfall.
Bring a towel/blanket, deckchair, picnic, and a torch if you are coming for the evening. Please dispose of all rubbish in the bins provided or take it home, and do not bring glass containers to the beach.

Saturday 29 August to Sunday 30 August, with camping extensions stretching from Friday night to Monday afternoon.
The event will feature five music arenas with stages and tents hosted in association with Ruffagenda, The Garden of England, and Code South Radio.
There will be a focus on House, Drum & Bass, UK Garage, Techno, Acid House, and Jungle.
DJs include Danny Rampling, Seb Fontaine, TNA, Amplify, Logan D, and Matt Jam Lamont.
There will also be fairground rides, food stalls, cocktail bars, chill-out zones, and VIP areas.

Create a Self-watering Planter Workshop

This workshop with Artivism will guide you in how to make self-watering planters from recycled plastic and helps you turn plastic bottles into beautifully crafted self-watering planters or vertical gardens, that you can grow food or herbs in.

Prostate Cancer UK fundraiser
A fundraising funday is being held at Ramsgate Boating Pool on Saturday, August 29 from 11am to 3pm.
The day will include free entry, bouncy castle, games, lucky dip, sand art, face painting, tombola, hamper prizes and more.
It will raise money for Prostate Cancer UK.
Organiser Rachael Webster said: “ I currently have a family member going through treatment and I feel that it is one of the un-talked about male illnesses.
“There shall be a stand on the day with lots of information available regarding this particular cancer.”
SERV Kent Bloodrunners
The ‘Bloodrunners’ will be hoping to encourage donations and find new volunteers when they set up stall at Westwood Cross on Saturday, August 29 from 9am until around 4pm..
The team of volunteers transport blood, plasma, mothers’ milk, medication, samples for testing, dialysis products and anything else that needed via motorcycle, car or van, free of charge to the NHS.
The service hold the Queen’s award for volunteering and is hoping to encourage more people to help out with vital deliveries and donations.
Volunteer Sam Stephenson said: “I am very proud to work for this charity, very proud of the people within it, especially as it also assists with other health charities via the NHS, young and old, closer to the point of use.
“We have been reliably helping, 365 days a year and 24 hours, so the NHS can predict the level of savings and spend it where it deems best.”
For volunteering SERV asks for a minimum of two shifts a month, during which you may not get called and as a controller it can be during your holidays.
Sam added: “Our gazebo will be outside Tesco in Westwood cross from 8am to 5pm on August 2 with a couple of marked bikes, a marked car and maybe a private bike or two.”
Since 2015 SERV has carried 35,681 blood and sample transfers, supported 4,463 air ambulance journeys, carried 849 transplant medications, made 2,694 dialysis deliveries, 1,280 milk runs and 251 journeys for hospice support,

Cliftonville Farmers Market

Cliftonville Farmers’ Market was established in 2001 by the Cliftonville Residents Association and is run entirely by volunteers.
There are now over 50 stalls, with the most fantastic selection of food providers that include a fruit farmer and a vegetable farmer. All meat is free range, as are the eggs, honey is raw, and the mushrooms are grown by the producer.
There are also 5 vegan stalls and another (gluten-free) bakery stall.
They even have ice cream for dogs and micro-greens on offer.

The Kent Country Show
30th August – 31st August, 10am to 5pm, Quex Park
Visitors can enjoy a line-up, which includes the Shetland pony racing, amazing wrestling, motorbike stunt displays by Kangaroo Kid, amazing reptiles, BMX stunts and ring, archery displays, chainsaw carving, and interactive cookery demonstrations throughout the weekend… Jonothan Marshall on Horseback from Game of Thrones, as well as Tudor living history displays, Wings of the field birds of prey display, Farmer Will’s petting farm, ferret rescue exhibits, and the truly magnificent heavy horses shows. A lot more will be added to the Kent Steam Rally area this year by adding more steam engines and classic cars to this area bringing even more heritage and spectacle to the event.
There will be plenty of entertainment for families, including appearances from Rob the Robot, performances by The Spotty Boys Circus Horse Displays, Punch and Judy and puppet shows, magic shows, the AMA travelling open air theatre, funfair rides, a dedicated children’s games area, circus acts, and so much more.
The We Love Dogs Show: As always, the show is a dog-friendly event, and will be returning with the popular Fun Dog Show for Charity and Fun Pedigree Dog Show which will return with over 20 classes in each. There will also be dog agility, main dog ring, fun dog ring and there will be plenty of entertainment for visitors and their four-legged friends.
A wide variety of stalls from local businesses and independent traders -offering everything from handcrafted goods to gifts. Cookery Demo Tent will offer visitors the chance to watch creations, discover new recipes, and sample delicious foods that they can recreate at home. One of the highlights of the weekend will be the Rural Crafts Area, where visitors can experience traditional countryside skills and craftsmanship first-hand. Demonstrations will include chainsaw carving, woodturning, and more. Visitors will be able to meet talented artisans, watch live demonstrations, learn about traditional techniques, and purchase unique handmade items directly from the makers. There will also be opportunities to try archery and axe throwing.

A monthly morning of woodland tasks at Dane Valley Woods… more important than ever due to the recent fire
On Wednesday 5th August there was an extensive fire at Dane Valley Woods, affecting one acre of the 12 acre site. This resulted in a devastating loss of habitat and wildlife.
The local community have been working on a plan that they are calling ‘Recovery and Resilience.
If you would like to get involved, the Volunteer Community Group will be hosting their next monthly Task Day at Dane Valley Woods at the end of the month.
They initially meet at their HQ in the Dane Valley allotments.
All tools and training provided. Under 16s must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Please wear sensible shoes and clothing, and be ready to get stuck in.
You can stay for as long or as little as you like, all help is greatly appreciated!
The tasks are seasonal and vary from month to month, but may include tree sapling care, scrub clearance, path mowing, litter picking, tree sapling care, and wildflower meadow maintenance.
At the end of the morning, volunteers are rewarded with hot drinks and biscuits, back at HQ.

Join Kate Malyon & Dr Sé M. Nomyo for a two-hour writing workshop.
Meet at Flints by Newgate Gap, where you’ll begin by watching Return to Water, a short film co-created by Sé and Kate. From there, you’ll move through a series of writing prompts designed to help you tune into yourself and your surroundings — with an element of sea swimming woven in.
What to bring: your swimming kit, something warm to change into afterwards, and your preferred writing tools (notebook, pen, laptop — whatever works for you).
You’ll finish the session with some optional sharing and a drink at the Flints kiosk.

Oval Summer Sundays – Stormy Sundays

Stormy Sundays bring the sound of Etta James, Prince, Adele and more to The Oval.
All persons under 18 years of age must be accompanied by an adult.
A fully licensed bar and food is available (alcohol and food is not to be brought into venue, bag searches are in operation).
Fully accessible toilet facilities are available. All seating areas have step-free access.
Well behaved dogs are welcome, but they MUST be kept on a lead at all times whilst in the bandstand auditorium.

Hotel de Ville/ Thanet Wanderers RUFC Fun Run
The Hotel De Ville & Thanet Wanderers RFC Annual Fun Run takes place on Sunday, August 30, raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Registration begins at 9am at the Thanet Wanderers RUFC clubhouse on Callis Court Road in Broadstairs, and fancy dress is warmly welcomed. Finish Line: Government Acre, Ramsgate. Set off for under 16s and walkers 10.30am, adults 10.45am.
Cost is £10 for adults and £5 for children to take part then all back to the Hotel De Ville for entertainment, BBQ, and a huge raffle with over 100 prizes.
First prize is a three course lunch on a river cruise on the Thames for two, 2nd prize is champagne on the London Eye for two, with lots of other amazing prizes on offer.

The group is holding its summer exhibition at St Saviour’s Church from now to Monday August 31. 10am to 4pm. Free entry plus art, craft and cards for sale and a raffle.
