Emergency services were called to Margate’s stone pier in the early hours of this morning (May 25) to a man who had fallen into the water.
Paramedics, fire crews, air ambulance, police and Margate Coastguard Rescue Team attended to retrieve the man from the sea.
He was passed into the care of the ambulance service.
A HM Coastguard spokesperson said: “At 1.44am this morning (Monday 25 May), HM Coastguard was called to assist Kent Fire and Rescue Service and South East Coast Ambulance Service with a male that had fallen into waters at Margate Harbour Arm.
“Margate Coastguard Rescue Team were sent and the person was put into the care of the ambulance service.”
A Kent Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “Kent Fire and Rescue was called at 1.25am today (25 May) to support Secamb and Kent Police at the pier in Margate.
“Four fire engines, two water safety appliances and a turntable ladder attended.”
Four Fire engines plus other rescue services were sent, why?
In case the water caught fire.
And probably because the Fire Service could be prosecuted by injury lawyers if they only sent one…
