A grassroots fundraising campaign has successfully raised £15,000 to secure the next six months of Ramsgate weekly community and wellbeing group Happy Mondays.
Launched in mid-February, the campaign brought together funders, local businesses, residents, friends and family, housing associations, councillors and community supporters across Thanet. Their collective effort ensures the continuation of a vital space supporting some of the town’s most vulnerable residents.
Delivered by social enterprise Remixd CIC, Happy Mondays is a weekly social lounge welcoming 30–40 adults who may experience loneliness and isolation, mental and physical health challenges, or long-term unemployment. The sessions provide a safe, inclusive environment focused on connection, creativity and wellbeing.
Remixd CIC is a start-up organisation working to strengthen communities and improve urban life through its Experience Improvement District (XID) framework. In the short term, Remixd CIC supports community-led initiatives like Happy Mondays, while also building long-term resilience through partnerships and public realm improvements.

“Happy Mondays is more than a weekly session, it’s a lifeline for many and we’re proud to see it continue to grow.”
The campaign received wide-ranging support. Contributions included donations of money, cakes, art and memberships from local businesses, including The Falstaff Hotel, The Daylight Lab, The Queen of Ramsgate, Union Yoga and Margot of Margate.
The campaign also received vital support from Town and Country Housing and Ramsgate Town Council. Councillors Becky Wing and Jane Hetherington also contributed ward funding.
The Happy Mondays staff, volunteers and the group played a central role, donating artwork and handmade items, running market stalls and championing the campaign throughout. Additional support came from Darryn De La Soul and Funding For All, as well as countless individual donors, many choosing to remain anonymous.
Remixd CIC thanked its dedicated team, Eleanor Yankah, Sylvie Targett and Ben Sewell, for leading the online campaign and capturing the essences of Happy Mondays, and The Isle of Thanet News for press support.
Happy Mondays takes place every Monday from 1pm to 6pm at Arts in Ramsgate on the High Street. Residents and supporters are invited to drop in, say hello and experience the welcoming community atmosphere.
