Happy Mondays, a creative cornerstone of the Ramsgate community for neurodivergent individuals and those managing mental health conditions, has announced an ambitious crowdfunding campaign on Spacehive.
The support group is seeking to raise £15,000 by Tuesday 5th May, to fund six months of life-changing creative sessions at their High Street home.
Happy Mondays is a community service provided by Remixd CIC and Sonder Arts CIC, Community Interest Companies based in Ramsgate. Since its inception three years ago, the service has transformed Monday afternoons into a hub of circular creativity. Operating out of Arts in Ramsgate (46 High Street), the group has already delivered some 150 sessions and reached more than 350 local people, resulting in the creation of more than 75 original works.
Founder of Happy Mondays and CEO of Remixd CIC, Elinor Seath, said: “Happy Mondays is about more than just arts and crafts; it’s about the power of being seen and understood.
“We regularly support 40 unique minds every week to create something beautiful for Ramsgate, often whilst our members are having to navigate significant personal challenges.
“By pledging to our Spacehive campaign, you aren’t just buying paint or clay—you are investing in the mental wellbeing of your neighbours and helping us provide a kinder, more inclusive and sustainable Ramsgate. Every pound helps us keep the doors open and the creativity flowing.”
Happy Mondays, with core values of Community, Sharing, and Connection, is specifically designed for those who often feel invisible—including the unemployed, the socially isolated, and people living with complex physical and neurological conditions.
The creativity support group helps a wide-reaching spectrum of needs, including Thanet residents living with Autism, Tourette’s and Bipolar Disorder, as well as those managing Epilepsy, Fibromyalgia, heart conditions and obesity.
Happy Mondays is a rare space that is fully accessible to those who are partially deaf or blind, as well as adults with learning difficulties or those who are unable to read and write.
For members struggling with depression or suicidal tendencies, the group offers a crucial sense of being noticed and valued when they need it most, contributing to major local art projects, such as the Thanet-wide Tiles of Joy ceramics, Ramsgate Carnival, Little Ships, Light Up Ramsgate and the Festival of Sound.
The group is also a champion of the circular economy, using plastic waste for eco-bricks and sourcing materials from the East Kent Mencap Scrap Store. Beyond art, it acts as a frontline support hub, hosting representatives from Citizens Advice and initiatives led by Thanet District Council’s Health Improvement Officer .
The cost to provide this professional level of support, materials, and advocacy is £12.50 per person per five-hour session. The £15,000 target will directly cover operational costs for the next six months, ensuring that 40 members can continue to access support every week.
