Broadstairs & St. Peter’s Town Council will host its Community Festival for a third year in Pierremont Park on May 16, 10am-4pm.
The event aims to raise awareness of the number of community groups and local businesses that can support residents in Broadstairs and the neighbouring areas.
The festival will be split into cleaner, safer and kinder zones, in line with the Town Council’s action plan for improving the town.
Town Mayor Cllr Mike Garner said: “It’s a fantastic way to market all the incredible groups and individuals that are doing good for the community. There are great opportunities for local people to connect with all these organisations and be a part of making Broadstairs and St Peter’s a better place to live”.
This year guest speakers, such as Friends of Pierremont Park, The Gap Project and the Broadstairs Town Team, will be giving presentations about their work and the difference they are making in the community. Gap in the Market will be returning with reuse, re-love and recycled items for sale, where funds are donated to The Gap Project.
Safety focused groups such as Thanet Community Safety Partnership team, Thanet Lifeguard Club, RNLI and the emergency services team at Kent Fire and Rescue Services will be in attendance to help people understand how they can keep themselves and their loved ones safe.
Other attendees include POW+, Thanet Dementia Action Alliance (DAA), RSPB, Broadstairs Library team, Thanet Wanderers Rugby Club, Looping The Loop, Chartwell House and Copperfield’s.
Also attending will be Dad Space, a new group that meet in the area to talk, listen and share their experiences of fatherhood, and Neurodivergent Friends Thanet who are there to support local neurodivergent adults meeting their peers in safe spaces.
Alongside the volunteers, there will be a Spring Market at Pierremont Hall. This will include small businesses selling handmade items. The aim is for this event to be as plastic-free as possible and to promote well-being in the community for all ages. There will be a licensed bar on-site and indoor and outdoor seating to sit and enjoy music from the local line up with Daisie, The Worry People, Static, Akadem, Wren and Moss E.
Local councillors and officers will be on hand to help answer any questions you may have. Head to the information table where there will be 100 FREE ice cream vouchers given out. There will also be free children’s face-painting between 10am and 1pm and a free bouncy castle for both children and adults.
