A Prisons and Probation Ombudsman report into the death of a child abuser formerly from Ramsgate, has found no issues of concern over his demise from old age.

Albert ‘Victor’ Walkom, formerly of Dumpton Park Road, was jailed for 10 years in 2023 for five counts of sexual activity with a child and one count of causing a child to watch a sexual act.
The offences took place in 2016 and 2017, when the two victims were aged less than 15 years old.
The victims later reported the offences to Kent Police, prompting an investigation by detectives from the Vulnerability Investigation Team.
Walkom denied the charges but was found guilty of all six counts by a jury at Canterbury Crown Court.
Then aged 84, he was sentenced to 10 years in prison and also made the subject of an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
Walkom died aged 86 on April 5 last year. The ombudsman investigation report was published today (April 30).
It found “he died of frailty of old age.” Other ailments – Type 2 diabetes, chronic urinary retention and recurrent urinary tract infections – contributed to but did not cause death, the report adds.
NHS England commissioned an independent clinical reviewer to review Walkom’s clinical care at Littlehey prison.
The reviewer concluded the care received “was equivalent to that which he could have expected to receive in the community” with evidence of “excellent individualised end of life care planning.”
An inquest hearing last November concluded that Walkom died of natural causes.
