Families of St Crispin’s Infant School in Westgate have been contacted after it was discovered a former staff member has recent, serious convictions including “those of a sexual nature relating to children.”
Families have been assured the convictions are not related to any former or current pupils at St Crispin’s.
The teacher, as yet unnamed, worked at the school from November 2020 and was on site until September 2022.
A letter to parents from The Stour Academy Trust – which St Crispin’s joined last December – says: “This week we were made aware by Kent Police of recent convictions regarding a former member of St Crispin’s CP Infant School staff.
“We are fully co-operating with Kent Police, who have confirmed that the convictions, which are serious offences including those of a sexual nature relating to children, are not related to any current or former pupils at St Crispin’s.”
The Trust says it has taken ‘decisive and immediate action to support the school.’
A Stour Academy Trust spokesperson said: “We are aware of the recent convictions in relation to a former member of staff at St Crispin’s CP Infant School prior to joining the Trust.
“This individual has never been an employee of the Trust with St Crispin’s being a maintained Kent County Council School until it joined the Trust in December 2025.
“We have fully cooperated with Kent Police, who have confirmed that the convictions are not related to any children of St Crispin’s or this individual’s employment at the school.
“The Trust has taken decisive action to support the school and has immediately referred the individual to the relevant teaching authorities.
“The safeguarding and wellbeing of children is our top priority, and the Trust has rigorous processes in place that not only meet but exceed statutory requirements.
“We are committed to upholding the highest standards for all our schools, pupils, staff and communities.”

Distancing the Trust from any responsibility is the Trust’s top priority.

Not that reassuring really-unless we are to believe this person just magically became a nonce since leaving a few years ago. They were there for nearly 2 years, they seek out jobs as teachers, nursery workers, care home workers, scout masters etc so they can be close to children in positions of authority over them.

All it proves is your history-if you have zero convictions or issues then nothing will show up. They are far from pointless-they keep the majority who are habitual offenders away from jobs involving children, which this vermin will now be.
You can have zero convictions or issues but you can still be offending. How does having no previous recorded history make it a fullproof system? It doesn’t.
Not unless they devise some Minority Report device it never can be-it can only deal with caught offenders, not what people are thinking or those that have escaped the attention of the authorities thus far. It does protect children from these lowlifes by barring them from ever working with children again.
