Chartwell House care home in Broadstairs will host its fourth annual Festive Food Pantry this December in partnership with St Christopher’s Church.
Organised with the Parish of St Laurence and Newington Primary School, the initiative continues to provide essential support to isle families facing food poverty during the Christmas season.
Since its launch in 2022, the Festive Food Pantry has supported more than 100 families, offering essential food items, festive treats and a warm dose of community spirit.
This year, the event aims to reach even more households connected to the Newington Estate and Newington Primary School, ensuring families feel cared for and supported as Christmas approaches.
The pantry event will be held on Saturday 13th December from 10am to 2pm, and again be hosted at St Christopher’s Church, Princess Margaret Avenue, Newington.
In a meaningful show of unity, the Bishop of Dover will be volunteering alongside the Chartwell House team, local parish members, and school partners.
To help make this year’s pantry the most impactful yet, Chartwell House is welcoming donations of:
Tinned and Jarred Food
Non-Perishable Food
Pasta and Rice
Christmas Biscuits
Christmas Pudding
Mince Pies
Pet Items for Pets
Christmas Treats
It is asked that all donated items carry a use-by date after 25/12/2025. Fresh or frozen items are unable to be accepted.
Donations can be dropped off at Chartwell House Care Home, 26 Draco Drive, Broadstairs, CT9 4FY. To support planning and distribution, contributions are encouraged to be delivered by Friday 12th December, to help organisers estimate the number of families they can support.
Chartwell House’ Home Manager, Diane Blake said: “The Festive Food Pantry is one of the most heartfelt projects we take on each year. It reflects our belief that care extends far beyond our home, it’s about lifting our wider community and ensuring nobody feels forgotten at Christmas.”
Admissions Manager, Jude Coveney added: “Every donation, every act of kindness, makes a real difference. We’re incredibly grateful to our partners, volunteers, and neighbours for coming together once again to support local families with warmth, dignity, and compassion.”
