Stakehaus has opened a new site in Margate seafront pub, Cinque Ports.
Opened officially on November 20, the new site offers the Stakehaus menu of steak frites, plus a wider menu of snacks, starters and mains.
Under the care of founder Lily Smith, the Cinque Ports menu is Stakehaus’ first traditional a la carte – allowing the team to create a wider selection of pub classics with a twist, plus a flagship Sunday Roast.
Lily, who is now a Margate resident, launched the brand in 2015 when she was just 22.
For snacks, Lily and team offer small bits such as a sausage roll with miso apple sauce; crispy corn ribs and beef shin croquettes with a roasted garlic mayo.
Mains will include Lily’s signature Bavette steak with a selection of sauces. Wider mains include a classic cheeseburger and the Hausmate burger with ‘baconnaise’ and confit green chillies, vegan and vegetarian burgers, and for the festive period, the Stakehaus Christmas Roast Sandwich.
Puddings include apple thyme and cinnamon crumble and a selection of homemade ice creams. Sunday roast dinners will be a staple, with jugs of Bloody Marys available for the table. The venue caters for 80 covers.
Cinque Ports is a Grade II listed Georgian property, originally constructed in the 1930s, and is based next door to Margate’s Dreamland.
Under the care of Alfie Smith, Lily’s husband, the pub has local beers on tap and an events calendar running throughout the year with a focus on arts and music – a key component of Alfie’s background.
Alfie and Lily’s goal is to create the kind of pub that their own family and friends would want to spend long, lazy lunches in, before rolling into a livelier evening.
Cinque Ports opens Thursdays to Sunday, with Stakehaus operating service from 4-9pm on Thursday and Friday, 12-9pm on Saturday, and 12-5pm on Sunday.
