Young students at Kent Talents Art Studio in Broadstairs have won prizes at the Royal Society of Miniature Painters, Sculptors and Gravers (RMS) Annual Exhibition for the third year running.
This year’s event took place from 18–22 November at Bankside Gallery, London, drawing leading miniature artists and emerging talents from across the world.
Emilia Kalnikaite, age 17, was awarded first prize in the Young Artist Award category for her outstanding miniature painting “Ladybird.” Her work was praised for its finesse, technical control, and expressive precision.
Maria Belousova, age 14, received the President’s Special Award for her bone china sculpture “Creature of No Ocean,” recognised for its creativity and meticulous craftsmanship.
Studio director and award-winning artist Lana Arkhi highlighted both the scale of the achievement and the unseen effort behind it, saying: “Having our students win first prize three years in a row is a significant milestone for Kent Talents Art Studio.
“Miniature art is incredibly demanding. Every brushstroke, every sculpted detail calls for patience, concentration, and skill. Visitors to the exhibition only see the finished jewel at the top of the iceberg.
“Behind each piece lies extensive work: the creative process itself, framing, completing forms, preparing labels, and ensuring every detail is correct. There is also the remarkable work of the RMS Council – from judging to organising and installing the entire exhibition. The professionalism behind the scenes is immense, and our students’ success is a true testament to that environment of excellence.”
This year, ten works by Kent Talents students were accepted into the exhibition, with two receiving high honours. The studio nurtures a new generation of miniature artists, maintaining a standard of training that repeatedly earns national recognition.
